Spelling of the Name
editI here note that in the 1890's, the name of this place was being spelled "Fort McLeod" (see the 2 Feb 1892 issue of the Winnipeg Free Press for one instance). That doesn't make it correct, but it does show that this spelling was in common usage at the time. -Glacierman (talk)

Pronunciation
editI was talking with a friend about this place, and he continually pronounced it "Mac-lee-odd", despite my suggestion that it was correctly pronounced "Macloud", as several Scots acquaintances of mine (two of the name itself) would aver. Either one of us would be correct, as there is no mention in the article of its correct pronunciation. If there is somebody who knows authoritatively, would they include a note to that effect please?162.196.161.203 (talk) 03:15, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- There's a youtube video here of an interview with the then mayor of Fort Macleod in which the pronunciation is clearly "McLoud". That clinches it, so I have added the IPA equivalent as a courtesy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.196.161.203 (talk) 20:35, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
