In a gist; Forager is dead.

To cut though the morass, it was revealed that the entire project was developed as something of a fraud; the darling solo project turns out to have been an uncredited team effort.

One of the former devs who'd been helping made this long retrospective which really cuts into the matter.

Since your post, the primary developer has apologized for blaming others for the cancelled multiplayer (source). However, in my assessment, neither Nintendolife.com nor Techraptor.net are particularly reliable sources to make all this notable enough for inclusion in the article.
