Shange

The language of origin of Shange's name is inconsistent between this article and Ntozake Shange: here it's Zulu, there it's Xhosa. I don't know which is correct, but this should be changed. CrashCart9 03:32, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Title of the play

When this play was produced at my university, none of the words in the title were capitalized, and I learned later in my World Theatre class that this was because the author did not wish any of the words to be capitalized. To add to this, I found the play referenced with no caps here: http://www.scils.rutgers.edu/~cybers/shange2.html. To reference an earlier post on this talk page, this article also cites the origin of Shange's name as "Xhosa, the Zulu language." So perhaps it is both? In the first edition of the book the title is written without the caps. Shange refrences it in the foreward (ix) and writes it as "for colored girls who have considered suicide/ when the rainbow is enuf" (talk)

I've changed the title to be all lowercase. Most other articles that mention the work use 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf' though. A list is here. gobonobo ^{+ c} 21:14, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure it's meant to be all lower case - I've never seen it in mixed case, but I've seen all-caps once. I've changed this in the body of the article, but not in the title of the article, as a lot of pages link here. Has it been confirmed?

Television version

I'm really not sure how I would cite the ways in which the play was heavily edited into the television version (by Shange herself) other than to ask her, because any other means of doing so is resultant of "original research" that involved sitting down with the original play's published edition and a DVD of the broadcast version. Large sections were cut, and other sections were reworked to include male actors. What do I use as sourcing for this? Absurdist1968 (talk) 21:47, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

Original poster of this play

I own an original poster of this play while living in Michigan, the poster measures 4'x2' and it has this marking " BOOTH THEATRE 222 W 45th ST. It was an ad for the play somewhere in Detroit in 1980/81. Please provide any info on this. The article for Ntozake Shange is not listed on the disambiguation page for "Shange". Instead "Shange" redirects to "Shan'ge", a kind of Chinese folk music, and there are no other entries for "Shange". Fzemke (talk) 04:36, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
