Disputed
editThere is a major issue with this article, which is that the AP/Fleetway was not "mainly" a publisher of comics. It was a giant newspaper and magazine empire that happened to include comics as one part of its output. Subsuming the history of the AP under Fleetway is also problematical. I'm sure sources can be found for a rewrite, but all I can immediately find online are either about the comics, or biographical pieces about Harmsworth, rather than about the history of the company. --Nicknack009 (talk) 18:45, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
- I think that's a very good point, but one that's very easily addressed; we just remove "mainly" a publisher of comics. I agree with you as well on the wider issue of the Harmsworth's publishing empire, which was obviously immensely influential before the First World War and is hardly dealt with here at all. But so far as the "dispute" is concerned I intend to remove the tag and the disputed statement, and look forward to some much needed work being done on this article's expansion. Wrong date?
editThe article says the company entered the comic magazine market in 1890, yet it was founded in 1901?? Setomorp (talk) 23:53, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- The comics in question were some of Harmsworth's publishing ventures that were gathered under one banner in 1901. --Nicknack009 (talk) 00:33, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Rebellion Update
edit- Rebellion Developments currently owns all comics characters and titles created by IPC's subsidiaries after January 1, 1970, together with 26 specified characters which appeared in Buster;[7][8] while IPC currently retains its other comics characters and titles, including Sexton Blake, The Steel Claw, and Battler Britton[9] (but not Dan Dare, which was sold separately and is now owned by the Dan Dare Corporation).
This bit needs to be updated - Rebellion probably now own all the 'other comics characters referred to as retained by IPC, but I (or another editor) would need to check what date the deal was done - one or two years ago now - and find a source. sheridan (talk) 02:12, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
