Talk:First appearance

Latest comment: 1 year ago by Shhhnotsoloud in topic "Debut issue" listed at Redirects for discussion

I'm not sure if I calculated the values of the first appearances correctly, if it was best to use fine values for Golden Age and very fine for Silver and use the CGC-graded scale. Any insight? Any others that should be on the list? Rorschach567 14:01, 25 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think you should note the date that those values were calculated/estimated, because they're certainly subject to change. Without specifying the date, that information will become inaccurate. --JamesAM 05:08, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Agree with date requirement. Will assume 25 Jan 2006 for now. --Kim Bruning 16:02, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

First appearance is NOT solely comics. edit

When a cartoon character comes to a cartoon for a first time, it has its first appearance. Same goes to movies and live-action TV shows. So why is this article solely about comic first appearance? NOTE: Leave a message on my talk page. Thanks. TheBlazikenMaster 22:57, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please answer me, I have to know. TheBlazikenMaster 13:58, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

This article serves no purpose edit

Even for a wikicomics page, it is a stretch to create a spawling, unsourced dialog about "first appearances" of characters. There is already an origin story article. I would nominate for deletion, but I've forgotten how and I don't care enough to bother. Johnnyfog 17:15, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merged edit

Given the issues with original research and synthesis this article contained, a full article cannot be supported. Rather than nominate the article for deletion I have merged the information to Comic book collecting, removing information that may not meet policy. Hiding T 11:49, 3 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

First appearance is a notable topic that deserves its own standalone article, and if you feel otherwise, then take the article to WP:AFD. If there are problems with particular sentences, then fix those particular sentences. A unilateral merger without first seeking any consensus is entirely inappropriate, and I have reverted the merger. Furthermore, a merger into comic book collecting is wrong given that the concept of "first appearance" applies to any long serialized story, including those of media other than comic books, such as television series, radio series, book series, and series in fiction magazines. —Lowellian (reply) 02:06, 16 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
I would recommend making a merger proposal (as detailed on WP:Merging) rather than going to AFD. Merging and deleting are two completely different things with generally different rationales used to support them.--NukeofEarl (talk) 21:04, 20 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

First appearances of fictional characters question edit

Wouldn't first appearance of a fictional character or characters also apply for not just comic book/strip characters but also cartoon/live-action/video game characters? 24.180.56.157 (talk) 21:48, 15 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
