Release date

edit

Its released on the 26th April in UK, and 27th in North America, can you please stop changing this... [[user:Xididthepopex]] Xididthepopex (talk) 18:36, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I completely agree. All the sources that we have say 26th April in UK, and 27th in North America. All changes to other dates, without a source will be considered vandalism, as introducing false information. TheWeakWilled (T * G) 14:27, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Matt Tuck probably said ages ago that it was going to be released April 2nd but it was an unconfirmed date. If their official website states 26th & 27th then thats the official date. Xididthepopex (talk) 18:36, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Genre

edit

Please stop adding hard rock to the genre. We don't know what the genre is/will be, and the source is primary. Thanks TheWeakWilled (T * G) 17:07, 21 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Regardless if the new album could be hard rock, or another type of music, bullet for my valentine music is mainly metalcore, and the 2 songs that have been heard doesnt seem to change that main style, so Im going to put just metalcore if its ok, but for other gengres we should better wait for the album to come out and then search for the sources in album reviews and all that stuff.--201.208.37.93 (talk) 04:11, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

We should not put any genres in the article or infobox unless they are backed up by reliable sources specifically referring to this album in their descriptions. We cannot rely on our own interpretations of the songs. We are not a reliable source. Timmeh 01:39, 2 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think that adding a genre with its reliable source should stay there, and may be edited when the album is released. For example, I was reading on a Metal Hammer blog about an interview with Matthew Tuck, where he stated: “The vibe of the album is a heavy, hard rock album with metal influences, rather than a metal album with hard rock influences.” Sirius_128 21:26, 14 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

For genres, we must use third-party reliable sources. Tuck is not a third-party source; he is not a professional music critic, and he could have a biased view of the album's genre. It's best to just wait until a reliable review site posts a review of the album describing its sound. Timmeh 20:20, 15 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

i found a review stating that the album is metalcore. im not sure if this is a reliable enought source, but the link is herehttp://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/compact_discs/bullet_for_my_valentine/fever/index.html

Why is this listed as hard rock/heavy Metal? This is where common sense plays in. I don't care if Allmusic and Rolling Stone are Calling it Disco/Funk Rock, if you have ears you will know that is bullcrap. The genre is Metalcore, possibly also some Thrash metal, and we can use the same sources for the rest of the bands articles to source that, because the sound is the same. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.222.194.199 (talk) 02:18, 24 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Again we have people putting "Hard Rock" as a genre for this album. Please stop! I added a reference to back up my point also so perhaps that will tell them to piss off.

That reference is gay, anyone who listens to this will know that there is no thrash metal at all in this album. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.99.246.53 (talk) 09:06, 25 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

First single? Label?

edit

While doing a little research to expand this article, I noticed some conflicting sources. Early this year, it was announced that the first single from the then-untitled-album would be "Your Betrayal" released on March 9. However, since the title has been publicly announced, while there are still some claiming "Your Betrayal" is the first single, others now claim "The Last Fight" will be the first single to be released on April 19. The official press release from Jive Records (a copy of the press release was published by glasswerk) claims the first single will be "Your Betrayal" while bbc and rock sound claim "The Last Fight" will be first. It's also interesting to note that the press release states that the band "returns with its third Jive album, Fever," yet none of the album articles on Wikipedia list Jive as the label. The Bullet for My Valentine article makes note of the label in the infobox and category, but nowhere else. The label should be changed from Sony BMG to Jive, and perhaps the singles should be removed from the infobox until further notice. Fezmar9 (talk) 19:42, 21 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

BBC doesn't claim "The Last Fight" will be the first single, just that it will be a single. The Rock Sound source says it will be the first UK single. The case could be different in other parts of the world, especially America, where the band has (I think) the largest part of its fanbase. Timmeh 21:39, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
BBC doesn't explicitly state it will be the first. It says that Fever will be preceded by the single, which I think implicitly states that it will be the first. Especially since it doesn't even mention "Your Betrayal". And sure, it absolutely could be different from country to country, but I do not see any direct evidence of that right now. Which was kind of my point here. The sources are not exactly clear and consistent, so any information about the singles should be removed until it's known for sure. Fezmar9 (talk) 22:15, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
FMQB says the song goes to radio March 8, before the release date of "The Last Fight". Also, both your links are to British websites, so I think the case may be that "Your Betrayal" is the first single in the US while "The Last Fight" is the first in the UK. Timmeh 22:49, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Alright, sounds logical to me. I forgot Rock Sound was from the UK. Also, it's interesting to note that several IPs and new users are claiming that "Your Betrayal" has already been released... Fezmar9 (talk) 00:14, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
A US Radio show first aired it last week, there were some horrible quality recordings on the net, but then the single leaked. Not officially released though. Xididthepopex (talk) 15:28, 27 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Let's make sure this article reflects the official and wide release of singles. I know that the radio program Loveline sometimes debut's full-length albums with the artist's as guests, but I certainly wouldn't call that an album release. It especially should not reflect leaks unless there is some media attention per WP:LEAK. Fezmar9 (talk) 23:32, 27 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I found on their very website the next information: "BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE has announced the final track listing for their upcoming album FEVER. The album kicks off with the ferocious 1st single 'Your Betrayal' followed by the title track 'Fever'". Don't you rely on their official website? Sirius 128 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sirius 128 (talkcontribs) 19:48, 17 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Part of defining a reliable source is that it should be a third-party source, and not directly related to the subject. And sure, there are instances where a first-party source is acceptable, however band websites are highly susceptible to link rot. Band websites are generally updated annually, and old news posts are deleted. It would be best to find a source that will still be available in the future. Shooting videos

edit

I found this link about the band shooting 2 videos (your betrayal and the last fight) while researching http://rochesterathome.com/dct/62/id/444077/mid/1759/Bullet-For-My-Valentine-Shooting-Two-New-Videos.aspx Its also got the director in it...is there any place for it in this article? Newsteadgirl (talk) 10:32, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

A "Release" section should be created soon, which will include details on the release of singles and music videos. Fezmar9 (talk) 23:34, 27 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Track Listing

edit

I've reverted additions of a full track listing several times. When I checked yesterday, not even the official site had the track listing confirmed. I could only find it on some forums and rumor sites. Please give a reference before restoring the track listing. Thanks! —Joshua Scott (LiberalFascist) talk 18:59, 15 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Done – I saw it on Alternative Press this morning. The source has been added now. Fezmar9 (talk) 19:11, 15 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

First single

edit

Well on the band's twitter it's now saying that the first single is The Last Fight. We've had this problem before...so should it be changed or not? Newsteadgirl (talk) 16:47, 20 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I know it's just confusing, even in the same band's official website there is controversy. Your Betrayal was released on iTunes first, but The Last Fight video was released early; We cannot be sure which single is cosidered first. For now I suggest to wait. Sirius 128 —Preceding undated comment added 18:23, 20 March 2010 (UTC).Reply
The result of the above discussion was that the lead single is different in the US and UK. However, it is still a little tricky to make heads or tails of the sources available, and this guess may constitute as original research. Perhaps it would be best to structure the article around mentioning which came first until this can be verified? Fezmar9 (talk) 19:26, 20 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Song lengths

edit

Some of you may have noticed that I have inserted the song lengths into the track listing, I added them from the link provided, I don't know if this is enough evidence though [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xididthepopex (talkcontribs) 06:16, 3 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reviews

edit

okay there was no proof for any of the reviews of scream, aim, fire so why do i need them for this one? I have Kerrang, Metal Hammer, and Rock Sound with reviews so what is the problem? Newsteadgirl (talk) 13:41, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

All encyclopedic content must be verifiable. If you would like to include these reviews, please also provide a citation. In this case, you should use the Cite Journal template. Also, adding reviews to the infobox has recently been depreciated. See WP:ALBUMS#Professional reviews and WP:ALBUMS#Reception for more information. Thank you. Fezmar9 (talk) 22:45, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
You can't source Kerrang, the reviews are only in the magazine. They definitely gave it 5/5. --SonicAvalanche (talk) 17:32, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
You absolutely can source Kerrang, you just cannot link it online. Simply fill out what you know in a Cite Journal template, and place it between two ref tags (<ref> here </ref>). Published sources such as magazines and books are preferred over websites any day! If you have this issue, please feel free to add the rating with the proper sourcing! 2009 Mayhem Festival Song

edit

The song that they played during the 2009 Mayhem Festival was a demo version of "Pleasure and Pain", by listeing to the previews of the album you can hear that they changed some words around for example the chorus, which Matt sings: "So who do you think you are? Trying to kill someone is hard when they don't have a heart" to "You dont bring me pleasure, you just bring me pain, over and over again" also at the at the ending of the preview you can hear that the guitar tabs are the same —Preceding unsigned comment added by Assassin248 (talkcontribs) 21:01, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

This constitutes as original research, as it is only supported by your synthesis of various sources. We have two sources here that explicitly claim the song played was "Your Betrayal," yet the video of the song does not match what we now know as "Your Betrayal." Was this an early version of "Your Betrayal" that was later reworked into "Pleasure and Pain"? Or perhaps the video is from a different festival? A number of variables come to mind. The most accurate way to display this information, and comply with wikipedia guidelines and policies, is to leave out mention of the title and just say "the band played a new song". "Fever" Japanese Version

edit

I've been researching a little bit about the Japanese Version of Fever, and there are two of them. The standard edition, which it's already in the article, contains 3 extra bonus tracks which are 3 of the 4 bonus tracks used in Scream Aim Fire (Deluxe Edition); However, there is a "Limited Edition" which contained a DVD. How can we add this info to the "Track listing" of the article?--Sirius 128 (talk) 23:48, 10 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Release Dates

edit

Does anybody else believe it's redundant to put Jive Records as the label for every release date? I think it would be simpler if it was just stated once for all the release dates. -- Jreznech (talk) 13:58, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Redirect

edit

Just wondering, why does both the Bullet songs "Fever" and "Bittersweet Memories" redirect here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.254.66.4 (talk) 11:05, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I’d say add Thrash metal. Matt himself has said they added Thrash influences Source: https://noisecreep.com/bullet-for-my-valentine-fever-new-album/ Ilovelife68 68 (talk) 05:20, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
