Expungement of Non-criminal Matters

edit

Evictions filed on one's record can also be damaging. These Civil actions (Unlawful Detainer) can be expunged in some cases in Minnesota. I wonder what other cases of civil expugement are out there. In New Jersey, provision exists to expunge records of mental health commitments. The statutory reference is N.J.S. 30:4-80.8. Allan Marain 01:11, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

Does expungement include internet public record databases

edit

If a felony is expunged, what happens to all the content already stored on online search engines? To have all records, news stories, mugshots, sentencing information, etc..., already automatically included in an online search erased does not seem possible. So, even though expungement, by law, erases the felony from ALL public records, does the availability of online search defeat the purpose? I think there should be some information added about this because the general statement seems outdated. Another issue that caught my attention was that expungement is limited to security clearance position at the DOJ. This caveat forces an indidual to "confess" of their crime in order for security clearance. This viewpoint is very under-represented. This exception to the expungement law should include the specific reasons for a caveat of a U.S. and state laws.Aramsow1 (talk) 21:31, 21 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Add Iowa

We need to include a brief overview on Iowa in this article. I've made several attempts but my commits are continually rejected even when arequetly cited over some overly zealous copyright considerations... Seriously stop biting the newcomers. Amstaker (talk) 19:40, 2 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
