Hyades cluster edit

I could find no evidence for the following, so I removed it from the article:

There is evidence that Vindemiatrix is part of the Hyades group, associated with the cluster of that name in the constellation Taurus.[citation needed]

The idea may have originated from Arimoto and Cayrel de Strobel (1988), who were doing a study of four members of the Hyades cluster. But the authors were only ever using ε Vir as a comparison star. Regards, RJH (talk) 00:04, 4 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Vindemiator edit

-trix = Latin female form for male -or. Is there an actual historical use of the male form or is it just mentioned because the referenced Mr. Kaler thinks Vindemiatrix is a "somewhat corrupted feminized Latin form for the original Greek name"? My assumption is that the Romans used the female form because their general term stella = star is of female gender. --84.159.123.7 (talk) 09:10, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Eccentricity of 0.11 edit

The article claims "This star is following an orbit through the Milky Way with an eccentricity of 0.11. This will carry it as close as 7.25 kpc (23.6 kly) to the Galactic Center, and take it as far as 8.95 kpc (29.2 kly)". Any source?? I think it's unlikely that this is a meaningful statement. Stellar orbits within the Milky Way are nothing like simple ellipses, and we certainly can't calculate the maximum and minimum distances of this star from the center. I'm removing this sentence. 70.215.5.165 (talk) 17:52, 27 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
