Traditional name?

I did not find any traditional name for this star after looking into several sources (the IAU, Jim Kaler, Richard Hinckley Allen, Antonin Becvar and Bode's Uranographia). If the name keeps being unsourced, I will remove it. Eynar Oxartum (talk) 06:55, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

[1] Also seen in some astrological texts, usually as Castra. Pretty obscure though. I suggest removing it from the lead, this is not a name people are going to be looking for and we shouldn't give it undue prominence. Lithopsian (talk) 11:19, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

Binary?

If there are 2 "secondaries", is this properly termed a "binary" system? What am I missing, here? I don't claim to any fluency in astronomy, and I don't remember ever hearing a system described as "trinary", but binary indicates 2, and only 2, right? rags (talk) 11:34, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

In 2006, user:Ketiltrout added the descriptor "triple star system". Please tell me why this is not more correct. My inclination is to change this back, but I will wait for comments from those more astronomically knowledgable. rags (talk) 12:06, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

I'm changing it back. The lede read "triple star system" from 2006 until May of this year, when user:Praemonitus added excellent ref notes (thank you!), and changed it to "binary", based, I believe, on the descriptive phrase "close binary pair" to describe the inner two, rapidly orbiting each other, as described since 2006. The article describes 4 stars: Aa Ab B C

4 does not equal 3, therefore this cannot be a triple-system. I'm assuming the "fainter companion" is B but C is not mentioned until the end of the article. What's going on here? AnyOldBiscuit (talk) 08:25, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

I've come across this article because I'm translating articles for the French Wikipedia.

Looks like it is only a binary system (at best), this is supported by Eggleton & Tokovinin (2008), where it is marked as a probable occultation double. Also the WDS says it is an occultation double, but doesnt say anything about the nature of B & C (optical or physical). We can however assume they are optical because they are not included in the system in Eggleton & Tokovinin (2008). Also the system is not present in the Multiple Star Catalogue.

So yeah, it is not a quadruple or even a triple system, but a binary system! The article should be revised according to the references. Romuald 2 (talk) 16:12, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
