- Yeah the significance argument seems pretty obvious, as a lot of the other meanings seem to be objectively less notable derivatives. https://wikinav.toolforge.org/?language=en&title=Ella does show an inconclusive picture, though, with only 196 out of 580 views getting to the proposed primary topic, and some amount of traffic going to the non-derivative name of a Sri Lankan town of 50k (apparently from a Sinhalese word meaning "the falls"?). I'm still generally sympathetic to the argument because of Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation/Archive 55#effects of WP:NAMELIST on navigation outcomes for anthroponymy entries - it's pretty clear that if we listed some of the more notable people named Ella here, they'd probably skew the usage statistics (and probably should). Overall the numbers are pretty small so it's hard to judge how much this usage matters. How much would a hatnote inconvenience the 25 people out of the 580 who want to read about the town? Or 10 who want to read about the Ella Fitzgerald album, plus the long tail? I'd prefer to see a bit more data or a more coherent significance argument before deciding. --Joy (talk) 10:56, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
