What was of it? Demolished? When?--181.47.159.236 (talk) 16:53, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

It burned down in 1896. See Lucy the Elephant for a very similar edifice that's still standing. Smallbones(smalltalk) 17:02, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I tried to find the old location once, someone at the Coney Island USA Museum pointed out it must have been somewhere in the current park under the elevated train.--Pharos (talk) 18:12, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Was Elephantine Colossus actually more than twice as big as Lucy of Margate NJ?

edit

I've got questions on the dimensions of Elephantine Colossus and her little sister which still stands in Margate, NJ. The article on Lucy lists her as 65 feet, which I believe was up to the top of her body and did not include the howdah, or at least the roof of the howdah, and lists Colossus's height as 122, presumably measuring the equivalent dimension and indicating Lucy was 53% the height of Colossus. This article on Elephantine Colossus indicates a height of 150 feet and claims it was more than twice the size of Lucy. The discrepancy between the articles would probably be accounted for by the howdah. Does anyone know for sure that Lucy's listed height of 65 feet does not include the howdah and what that actual dimension would be, or otherwise where the 28 foot discrepancy might come from? Edited the main article due to the inconsistencies. PhantomWSO (talk) 20:49, 13 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
