BLP improvement

On this guy, I actually spent several hours trying to find online sources that could be included in the article to get rid of the BLP-unreffed tag. He definitely seems notable as he is cited in a lot of linguistics literature ([1], [2], [3], a simple Google search for "Blasco Ferrer" turns up even more). He appears to be one of the top people in the field of linguistics in studying the Sardinian language (in fact he's cited in the Wiki article on Sardinian language). Unfortunately, while he's cited a lot there's a lack of links to his own publications or to secondary source reviews of his work. It also doesn't help matters that the webpage of the University of Cagliari really freakin' sucks [4] (plus I got no Italian to speak of or read of) so it's even impossible to verify that he is in fact on the faculty there (and it's not clear from this article which department he'd be in - I checked everything from education to physiology, but all I could get is a notification that he gave some lecture). Best I could find is that he is listed as being part of the University of Cagliari on the Advisory Board of the "Romance Philology" journal [5].

It is a bit easier to confirm that he did in fact write a book called Ello, ellus [6] - I did not include this in the article because I wasn't sure if that link is enough to be considered a "reliable source".

Honestly, this is way out of my area of expertise but in trying to ref this article it does seem this guy's notable and even influential. Somebody with a bit more familiarity with the particular topic area could really help a lot here. I'd hesitate on the deletion thing.radek (talk) 07:07, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

I found a pretty good source in Italian and added it. It's a story from a Sardinian newspaper, republished by the guy's university. Other than that, there's plenty of coverage of his work in Romance Philology, but I don't have access to that journal through my university except on paper (how quaint) and am unlikely to be able to track that down any time soon. For now, I've removed the parts I couldn't source. I'll leave it to someone else to determine if this is sufficient to remove the PROD tag. Chick Bowen 05:27, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
