Type Descriptions

I just deleted the descriptions on all of these personality types. A lot of them were copyvios from different sources, several of them being from http://www.geocities.com/lifexplore/ , where they may or may not have been copied from other locations. Nonetheless, the three theories of MBTI, Keirsey Temperaments, and Socionics are quite different and require different descriptions of types, functions, relations, and other concepts. Socionics especially differs from the other two. The three theories should all be expanded upon in Wikipedia, but it is impossible to do this while there is a conglomeration of these three theories and they are treated as one and the same. Famous ESFJs

I strongly recommend that this section be deleted. The information may be fun, but it has no place in an encyclopedia. There's no factual basis for the claim that William McKinley, for example, was an ESFJ. Such unscientific speculation is fodder for skeptics. It screams 'pop psyschology' and casts doubt on the integrity of the entire system. A link to the Keirsey site would make the information available to interested readers without undermining the validity of this article.

If you feel you must include it on the Wikipedia site, it should be under the Keirsey role variant (Provider) rather than the Myers-Briggs type. Speculation about a person's type is considered unethical in Myers-Briggs. ThreeOfCups (talk) 02:13, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I created templates for text that's the same across all 16 MBTI type articles to eliminate the hours of work it takes to update the same text 16 times. This is a recommended use for templates according to Wikipedia policy WM:TEMP.

Spelling of Extraversion

The MBTI, Keirsey Temperament Sorter, and related Jung Typology assessments use the original spelling, Extraversion, rather than the modern corruption, Extroversion. In this context, Extraversion is jargon and should be thus spelled. ThreeOfCups (talk) 15:03, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

This is a German issue, so i'll write in German

Ich plädiere immer noch für den "Rationalen Hedonismus". Das ist eine Lebensauffassung für konsistentes Denken und gesunden Menschenverstand, der in seinem Bestreben zu maximalem Glück, Wohlergehen und Behaglichkeit aller führt. Wenn man den Staat gut organisiert, mitdenkt und die Infrastruktur und die Maschinen kompetent in Gang hält, ist die Welt wie Disneyland. Stellt man sich dumm an, dann ist sie bloß noch wie der Dorfrummel. Und manche Idiotenpersönlichkeiten verwandeln sie gar in ein Bautzen.

Das ist die Sorte Leute, die schon von klein auf gelernt hat, das kleine Geschwisterchen rumzudrangsalieren, rumzukommandieren und zu schikanieren. Solche Leute werden heute bevorzugt "Sozialpädagogen" oder "Erzieher". Wäre die Bundesrepublik die DDR, wären sie wohl bevorzugt bei der Stasi.

Extraverted Feeling Man richtet sich nach Normen, -"Gesellschaftlichen Konventionen"-, die nicht hinterfragt werden. Die Moralvorstellungen enden am nächsten Gartenzaun. Es ist eine Art Gefühl von dem, was sich gehört und was richtig ist, das jeder Vernunft entbehrt. Das, was alle tun, ist die Norm und was normal ist, ist gut. Es sind keine wirklichen Ideale, sondern unreflektierte Konventionen. Beispiel: man muß arbeiten, weil alle arbeiten. Man soll nicht ehebrechen, sonst ist man die Dorfschlampe. "Wir sind alle gute Christen". Nach außen gerichtet schikaniert man damit tendenziell immer andere Leute rum, die man bei vernünftiger Betrachtung einfach in Ruhe lassen könnte. Mir persönlich ist es scheißegal, ob jemand anderes raucht. Dem ESFJ aber nicht.

Introverted Sensing Alles muß in Schubladen gesteckt, kategorisiert und eingeordnet werden. Das Böse wird nicht als böse erkannt, wenn man es von der Norm her bloß richtig deklariert. Nichts wird unter anderen Blickwinkeln betrachtet. Solche Leute sind auch nicht imstande, abstraktere Begriffe wie "Diskriminierung" zu begreifen. Sie beharren immer auf der konkreten Form. Beispiel: Rassismus geht für sie immer nur gegen Dunkelhäutige. Werden unauffällige Deutsche schikaniert, dann ist es kein Rassismus, sondern von der Gruppennorm her angemessen. Wenn man Weiße mobbt, ist es eine "angebrachte Mahnung", mobbt man Schwarze, ist man ein "Nazi". Über Männer darf man lästern. Wer über Frauen verallgemeinert, ist ein "sexistisches Schwein".

Extraverted Intuition Diese Funktion könnte zu einem besseren Weltverständnis führen, wird aber generell als Achillesferse unterdrückt. Man glaubt absolut alles, was man im Fernsehen sieht, in den Klatschblättern steht und was angesehene Dorftanten tratschen, und konträre Ansichten tut man als "Verschwörungstheorien" oder "Paranoia" ab. Die Weltvorstellungen können leichter durch Propagandamüll und manipulierte Mediendarstellungen eingeimpft werden, so wie es auch der Goebbels schon damals geschafft hat, weil man kaum hinterfragt.

Introverted Thinking Diese Funktion ist für das Weltverständnis unter normalen Umständen sogar wichtiger als die Intuition, weil sie dazu dient, logische Zusammenhänge und allgemeine Prinzipien zu begreifen. Im Gegensatz zum außengerichteten, empirischen Denken strebt man mit dieser Denkweise nach Verständnis und Orientierung in der Welt. Und nach dem Erlangen von Kulturtechniken, die zu Komfort führen. Wie meine Cousine neulich sagte: "Ich bin nicht physikalisch begabt", als ich ihr eine Veranschaulichung von elastischen Kollisionen anhand eines Programmbeispiels zeigen wollte. Und man kann garnicht genug betonen, was einem ohne diese "Funktion" alles entgeht. Das ginge dann soweit, daß hundert Jahre keiner mehr ein Smartphone gebaut kriegen würde, wenn die Industrie entschiede, einfach jahrzehntelang keine mehr zu verkaufen und die Baupläne geheimzuhalten oder zu vernichten. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.143.66.177 (talk) 03:40, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

Reduce to one article

The other recreational pseudo-psychology systems Socionics and Enneagram of Personality have only a single article. In the meantime it would be beneficial to remove the references of "notable persons of this personality type" seeing as the Myers–Briggs_Type_Indicator is make-believe. 104.228.101.152 (talk) 02:13, 14 November 2018 (UTC)
