Population edit

Hello, my name is Ladylasagna and I am doing a project on this adorable moth. Any idea on where I could find some population data, or if it could be added to this article? -Ladylasagna, 12/17/23, 10:10 AM (PST) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ladylasagna (talkcontribs)

Temp protection? edit

Since this article was featured on reddit/imgur recently, and has been the target of a number of non constructive/spam attacks, should it be at least temporarily semi-protected? --2001:5B0:24FF:CF0:0:0:0:34 (talk) 04:59, 5 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Expanding the Article edit

As part of my Behavioral Ecology class at Washington University, I significantly expanded this page. I added to the lead section and expanded the life cycle section into several subsections. I also added several new relevant sections and ten new sources. EmilyKathryn (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 14:33, 3 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Just as a heads up, you should really be mindful of WP:REFNAME, which says Names MUST NOT be purely numeric; they should have semantic value so that they can be more easily distinguished from each other by human editors. -- it's confusing to see a ref named :0 or :1 while editing and not know what it refers to. Behavioral Ecology Student - WikiProject edit

Hey, this is a great article! It was very informative and well written. I made a couple minor grammatical edits by changing sentence structure and punctuation errors to reduce run-on sentences. I also added a couple links to other Wikipedia articles throughout the article to help the reader find information more efficiently. I would suggest slightly re-structuring the "Feeding" section and dividing it into two sections - one for larvae food and one for adult food. It is mentioned that adult rosy maple moths do not feed, but I would like to learn more about this in the adult feeding section. Additionally, I would suggest moving the last paragraph of the "Adult Life Cycle," and making it a separate subsection under "Physiology" or "Thermoregulation," and adding more information on body temperature regulation of the moth. I found it confusing: How can an adult moth live for months without eating? Twice it says that adult moths don't eat in the article. The second mention says because they don't eat they have a wide range, which is also somewhat strange. And I know that the atlas moths don't eat after they create their wings, and they live only a week or so thereafter. Hello! This was a good article about a very interesting butterfly species. My main suggestion for this page is to closely look at citations. I found places where information was not cited or information that the source was supposedly referenced to didn't actually contain that information in the source. I have put the tag "citation needed" in places where I think a source is needed. I also added a new Description section and a new Enemies section. Finally, I think the next step would be to add a section on Mating since this butterfly exhibits sexual dimorphism and uses pheromones to mate. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arajan1 (talkcontribs) 15:09, 5 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

I agree with what has been said so far, overall this is a great article. I made some changes to the structure of the article, such as adding a behavior heading where feeding, mating, and social behavior can all be found. Also, I changed Life history to Life cycle (although it would be riveting, I'm sure, to hear about the life history of a moth). Remember, it does not make a lot of sense to have a section with only one subsection. That can just be a section. I also made some syntax changes and removed repetitive sentences. Hi! This was such a colorful article and great read. I just fixed some chunky/unclear wording in the lead and Thermoregulation sections. Overall, great job! BoozalisHannah (talk) 04:14, 1 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
