Hi,

What was published by the Irish Manuscripts commission was the Civil Survey - not the Down Survey. The Civil Survey started slightly earlier and was based on informations obtained from juries of local landowners. No accompanying maps for the civil survey survive. The Down Survey followed the civil survey and was an actual cartographic survey with acccompanying terriers describing the depicted properties. However they did base their work on the civil or 'Gross Survey' While the original maps were destroyed 18th century copies survive in the Nation Copies of the Down Survey parish maps are available in the National Library of Ireland but it is unpublished (excluding individual copies here and there)
