Request for help

I am Don Truhlar. There is a Wikipedia page for me (I do not know who stated it, but I am grateful for the attention), but it is out of date and has errors. I cannot fix it because it would be a conflict. Furthermore, I thought I posted the correct way to fix it, but I got a message that I followed incorrect procedure. So I am trying again (my third try). In all honesty, the instructions on what I should do are confusing to me, but I will try to follow the rules.

Here are some changes that would both bring my page up to date and correct the errors:

1. The first sentence could be corrected to: Donald G. Truhlar is an American scientist working in theoretical and computational chemistry and chemical physics with special emphases on quantum mechanics and chemical dynamics.  Done

2. In the education section, Kuppermann is misspelled.  Done

3. In the important contributions section, I would change "density functional theory (where its main contributions are represented by the Minnesota Functionals) and so on." to "and density functional theory, including the Minnesota functionals."  Done

4. The "honors and awards" section has other things besides honors and awards (for example, it has service to the field) and some of the dates are wrong. I would suggest replacing this whole section by two new sections, as follows:

Major awards and honors

Truhlar was elected to International Academy of Quantum Molecular Science in 2006, to the National Academy of Sciences of the USA in 2009, and to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2015. He became an Honorary Fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society in 2015. He was named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 1986, the American Chemical Society in 2009, the American Physical Society in 1986, the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2009, and the World Association of Theoretical and Computational Chemists in 2006. He was a visiting Fellow at the Battelle Memorial Institute in 1973, and at the Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics, 1975–76, and he was named an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Research Fellow in 1973.

He received NSF Creativity Award, 1993;[1] the ACS Award for Computers in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Research, 2000; the Minnesota Award, 2003 ("for outstanding contributions to the chemical sciences"); National Academy of Sciences Award for Scientific Reviewing, 2004; the ACS Peter Debye Award for Physical Chemistry, 2006; the Lise Meitner Lectureship Award, 2006; the Schrödinger Medal of The World Association of Theoretical and Computational Chemists, 2006; Dudley R. Herschbach Award for Research in Molecular Collision Dynamics, 2009; Doctor honoris causa of Technical University of Lodz, Poland, 2010; Royal Society of Chemistry Chemical Dynamics Award, 2012; and the Earle K. Plyler Prize for Molecular Spectroscopy and Dynamics of the American Physical Society, 2015.

Editorships and other major service

Truhlar served as an Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Chemical Society from 1984 to 2016, as (successively) editor, editor-in-chief, associate editor, and chief advisory editor of Theoretical Chemistry Accounts (formerly Theoretica Chimica Acta) from 1985 to the present, and as a principal editor of Computer Physics Communications from 1986 to 2015. He has served or is serving on the editorial boards of 14 other journals and three book series, and he has edited 13 books.

His major service to the American Chemical Society includes Secretary of Theoretical Chemistry Subdivision, 1980-89, national councilor, 1985-87, and chair of the Task Force on Publication in Molecular Modeling. 1992. His major service to the American Physical Society includes Chair of the Division of Chemical Physics, 2012-2013.

5. I understand that Wikipedia places high value on published material that can be cited. I note that Chemical and Engineering News published an article about my work when I was given the American Chemical Society Award for Computers in Chemical & Pharmaceutical Research. The citation is E. Wilson, Chemical and Engineering News, February 7, 2000. The article is available online at http://pubs.acs.org/isubscribe/journals/cen/78/i06/html/7806awards.html. They published another article about my work when I was given the Peter Debye Award in Physical Chemistry. The citation for this article is S. Borman, Chemical and Engineering News, January 9, 2006. 6. The January 19, 2006 issue of the Journal of Physical Chemistry A is a festschrift in my honor. It might be useful to mention this and cite the issue because it has (on pages 327 to 360) an autobiographical sketch, my publication list (up to that date), a list of my students, associates, and visiting collaborators, and a curriculum vitae.  Done

minor updates

An anonymous user has repeatedly made minor updates to the h index and citation count cited in this article. These numbers are not being changed significantly and there is no need to keep them updated on a regular basis.
