A reference to a satire site about the subject of this page is inappropriate. There are countless sites where such a reference would not be allowed by Wikipedia. Truth requires consistency. How to address recent news of mishandling and destroying official records edit

I know that Wikipedia is not a newspaper but the recent news about Trump's handling of official PRA records (ripping up and flushing documents, retaining classified records in his private residence) and the Trump White House not fully capturing social media records before the end of his term are (in my opinion) very relevant to his Library. Since these allegations were just confirmed by the Archivist and are no longer speculation I think they can be included in the page but I'd love some input! I'm going to work on some draft language and put it here before adding it to the page. Verumregium (talk) 19:32, 19 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Draft language for the Official records section -

In February 2022 media reports alleged that multiple boxes of Trump Administration records were recovered from the former President’s Mar-a-Lago residence, in violation of the Presidential Records Act which mandates that all White House records are handed over to the National Archives for permanent preservation.^[1] Later that month, the National Archives and the Department of Justice confirmed that fifteen boxes of records were returned to the government and that some of the records contained classified information at the Top Secret level.^[2]^[3] The National Archives also confirmed that “certain social media records were not captured and preserved by the Trump Administration.”^[4] Verumregium (talk) 00:01, 15 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

You made a valid point, plus your draft paragraph looked pretty good (though it would need to be updated, in light of recent events). Having written that, though, I looked into it, and found that there was already a Wikipedia entry on the point you brought up. You can find it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FBI_investigation_into_Donald_Trump%27s_handling_of_government_documents

That said, it might not hurt to include mention of that (and a link to it) somewhere on this entry, and to also see if you could improve anything there using what you've already written here, along with what other sources (such as the Associated Press and FactCheck.org) have to say about it. (The talk page there has had little activity, plus that entry is not that long, so it looks like you could do some real good there.)
