Requested move 14 May 2021 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Moved all per nom. Roman Spinner has presented the compelling argument that it maintains consistency with dioceses from Category:Roman Catholic dioceses in Tanzania and thus provides appropriate precision. No such user (talk) 11:41, 4 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

– there is a considerable overlap between the names of dioceses in the Anglican, Roman Catholic and Lutheran churches in Tanzania. There is also inconsistency in Category:Anglican Church of Tanzania dioceses since some of the names are definitely ambiguous. • Oppose. None of these names seem to be used by the Roman Catholic Church, so no disambiguation is needed. The only Lutheran dioceses that share names are Mara and Ruvuma, but they don't have articles as yet. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:15, 14 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. WP:CONSISTENT says to use the same pattern of titles for a group of articles. Whether or not some dioceses share a name or not doesn't matter here. Additionally, the proposed title also satisfies precision criteria. --Gonnym (talk) 12:05, 14 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
    • Per Category:Anglican Church of Tanzania dioceses, these are already consistent! -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:08, 19 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
      • They are not. 5 are necessarily named 'Anglican Diocese of'. Oculi (talk) 15:51, 19 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
        • The others, however, are not. The majority are therefore consistent. Your argument would appear to be saying that if any article in a category has a disambiguator then all articles in that category should have a disambiguator. That's not how we do things on Wikipedia. We only disambiguate if necessary. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:27, 20 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nomination. Category:Roman Catholic dioceses in Tanzania does confirm that, when delineating those, Wikipedia main title headers use the longer form, such as Roman Catholic Diocese of Mbinga even though short headers such as Diocese of Mbinga are available in the form of redlinks. The dioceses under Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania#Dioceses indeed do not have individual entries, but are listed there as confirmation of their presence in Tanzania. Thus, it is a matter of WP:CONSISTENT. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 05:06, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
