Part about resistance to BT deserves its own section edit

this is an excellent article but the point about this insect developing some BT resistance is very important and should be expanded upon imo...i don't believe its totally resistant to BT as there are different strains of that biological insecticide(kurstaki, israeliensis, etc.) and there are different (regional) populations of the insect that should have varying degrees of resistance...

I attempted to find more information on the Bt toxin as per your suggestion. However, I was unable to find enough consolidated information on the specific regions and strains of resistance. Once I find sufficient information, I will add more to the page. CR.Tracy (talk) 22:50, 2 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Section headings edit

Just a note that on Wikipedia the standard way of writing section headings is in sentence case. That is, the first word is capitalized and subsequent words are not capitalized unless they include a proper noun. That's explained at MOS:HEADINGS in our Manual of Style. Edits for behavioral ecology class edit

I have added sections on climate effects, oviposition, host plant learning and selection for egg (odor, touch), predators, pheromones, number of mates, and pest of crop plants. In addition to adding these sections, I also provided more information to existing sections (host plant, life cycle, interaction with humans, and lead section). I edited some of the previous author's work. I also added about ten new references and citations to the page.

I am open to suggestions and corrections! CR.Tracy (talk) 02:48, 3 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Peer-Edit for Behavioral Ecology Class edit

I added a section on "Description" of the moth that points out a few of the characteristics that were mentioned in the "Overview" along with the necessary citations. I also moved the "Pupa" picture down closer to the "Life Cycle" section on "Pupa." There are a few sentences that might potentially need citations that I wanted to bring to attention. I am specifically referring to paragraph 2 in the "Overview," paragraph 1 in "Larvae," and paragraph 2 in "Pest of crop plants." Finally, I thought that it might be potentially helpful to find information on the physiology of olfaction in these butterflies since odor plays such an integral piece of their life cycle, and it might be beneficial to develop a "Literature" section with full citations of the sources that have been referenced.

Peer-Edit for Behavioral Ecology Class edit

I hyperlinked the countries mentioned in the lead paragraph, as well as some in the geographic range. I This Wiki article was extremely thorough with about twenty sources, and had clear writing. I think it is interesting that this moth has been able to spread worldwide, and I wonder if there are any particular features that could be expanded upon when considering why it is so adaptable to many geographic locations such as the high fecundity and migration patterns. I deleted the female/mate heading because I thought it was redundant. I think the description section could be expanded, so I included some information from the “adult” section. For clarity, I also bulleted the various host plants for egg laying, and also included links to the pages as well.

Behavioral Ecology Project Review edit

Hi! I am reviewing and adding to this page for a behavioral ecology course. Thus far, I have added an additional source, http://www.annualreviews.org/doi/pdf/10.1146/annurev.en.38.010193.001423, to the “Interaction with humans: Pest of crop plants” section. I added information from this source to the section in order to contribute to the discussion of the relationship between the diamondback moth and insecticides. I also made some grammatical changes throughout the article. While some more content on behavior would be a great addition to the article, this page already has a lot of useful information! Lots of great content! I edited some sentence structure/wording. Also, there were really dense sections with more text than is preferred on Wikipedia so I divided this up with subsections and by moving parts around in some instances. I did not change the content, just rearranged and made the sentences flow better in some instances. Crieber (talk) 03:33, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
