This Tribal Folk Dance of India is also performed in Southern Portion of Odisha state. This portion of State Odisha is now devided in Four districts : Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri, which are mostly of Hilly/Forest regions of the state earlier it was Koraput District. Perhaps of the total population 50% are Tribal. This Tribal folk dance prhaps has originated form the Koraput District of State Odisah. This folk dance is performed by the Tribal people of this region called as DESIA or Adivasi from a time unknown. This Folk Dance is perfomed in all the ceremonies like Marriage, Dashara and Chait Parab etc.
In this Tribal Dance Dhemsa generally Dhol-a type of Bass Drum, Tamak:- a type of little Bongo like musical instrument which maintains the Beat and Bar or the Tempo, Changu and the Mohuri. The Mohuria playing the instrument Mohuri is the main performer of this dance and all other three drummers always follow him. This dance generally is performed in the Late night by the Desia Tribe and any body irrespective of gender can take part in this dance. The performers make their footsteps as per the Drum beats in various ways.
This Dance is also performed in the adjacent regions of Chattisgarh and Andrapradesh also.
