More removed unreferenced information edit

Junk edit

This article is junk and should be gutted. I applaud whomever added all of this original research for using a semi-encyclopedic tone, but it's still clearly 99% original research, which isn't allowed. Isenta (talk) 04:43, 28 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Gotham Hotel edit

In this edit, Micahhoekstra added some detailed information on the background of the Gotham Hotel, an establishment that had closed and whose structure was then occupied for illicit purposes by the Detroit Partnership. While this information is properly cited and verifiable, I would argue that it is irrelevant to the topic of the article. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate repository of information, and facts, even though verifiable, are not always needed in an article. In this case, they do nothing to add to the understanding of the Detroit Partnership. Unless Micahhoekstra or anyone else can convince me otherwise, I'm inclined to delete this material. WikiDan61, I have tried to tidy up that section but agree it is still problematic and have no issues with you further editing or removing the content. Unfortunately much of the article seems to me to be bloated with that kind of tenuously-connected content, written repetitively and without much regard for the overall flow or focus. @Melcous: I've contacted the course instructor (DrLibraryCat) to inform them of the issues. Hopefully some better mentorship will occur. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 22:13, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
WikiDan61 thank you. I have reverted a couple more student edits. Sdkbrown and Hayfri20, I'm sorry if this disappoints you, but someone needs to be giving you more guidance that edits here need to be referenced with reliable sources, and must not contain opinion or original research. There also seems to be an issue with students working on individual sections without reference to one another, and therefore adding paragraphs into the article that repeat information already included elsewhere, as well as content that is tangential and indiscriminate as noted above.
