editThe Detmer Woolen Company is impotant in itself as being a leading business in its field during the Gilded Age of the 19th century. Its founder was also a significant philanthropist who established the Detmar Nurseries near his home in Tarrytown, New York. The buisness maintained offices in the Parker Building, a former home of Metropolitan Life, and an edifice which is important to the study of the history of Manhattan. Detmer Woolen Company, located on the fourth floor of the Parker Building, was situated at what is currently Park Avenue.--Robert (talk) 15:45, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
