Influence section needs reference and improvement edit

The unreferenced assertion is that Description de l'Egypte is much less influential than usually thought, and that kind of claim needs a reference. Particularly in light of the comments of other encyclopedias, such as Britannica, which goes as far as to say (emphasis mine): "Egyptology began when the scholars accompanying Napoleon Bonaparte's invasion of Egypt (1798–1801) published Description de l'Égypte (1809–28), which made large quantities of source material about ancient Egypt available to Europeans." [1]

Perhaps this section needs a more balanced reassessment? Brando130 (talk) 05:20, 30 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
