Copy/Paste? edit

Was this article copied from IMDB or vice versa? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1278340/synopsis --85.177.222.139 (talk) 13:27, 3 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

The plot summary was added to the article here on 1 September by an experienced user. It is probably a copyright violation by the IMDb users. I will investigate this further, thanks for the notification. Regards, decltype (talk) 13:33, 3 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
The IMDB one was added two weeks ago, the Wikipedia one longer ago. IMDB is copying without saying where from. Canterbury Tail talk 13:35, 3 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
I have updated the summary at IMDb to comply with CC-BY-SA 3.0. If my edit sticks, there should be no problems. decltype (talk) 13:50, 3 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hanna's Story edit

Many bits of information gets left out about Hanna. She is the one who takes the coin and puts it in Martin's pocket, she suggested that the groups split up, she also suggested that the women split up, and her ultimate death when she gets killed by Martin when she apparently tries to grab his shoulder instead of saying "Martin I came back instead of going to the cars like I said I was going to." Hanna, the worst person to ever have in a Mummy Apocalypse. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.9.124.228 (talk) 16:45, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

The plot is already over bloated (I'm currently working on fixing that), and I think that the above details are unnecessary at best, original research/ opinion at worst. The horror genre is defined by characters making stupid decisions and inexplicably surviving fatal accidents, so Hanna is nowhere near out of the ordinary. drewmunn (talk) 12:20, 22 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Are we misquoting the NYT's critic, or was the typo hers? edit

I doubt critic Manohla Dargis of The New York Times talks about "the irrelevant screenplay"; it seems "irreverent" is a word that would make much more sense in this context.

Then again, the quote could be correct, if she made the typo in the first place. I seem to have used up my freebie NYT articles this month, so I can't check right now. And there's no guarantee I'll remember it in the future, so if someone else could look, that'd be great.--CRConrad (talk) 12:24, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

I wondered about this too so I double checked. (Also you can get more views on the New York Times website if you clear your cookies, or use Private Mode or Incognito browsing mode.)

As a director, Tommy Wirkola, who wrote the irrelevant screenplay with Stig Frode Henriksen, doesn’t just hit every horror beat; he pounds it to an indistinguishable pulp.

The phrasing is a little awkward but it was quoted correctly, "irrelevant" was the intended word. Dargis is saying that because the film so closely follows the normal beats (or standard clichés) of horror films that the script is irrelevant ... and as the article goes on to say the real star of this film is the special effects. -- 109.79.65.230 (talk) 02:03, 29 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
