Opposing page deletion. Facts and clarification edit
On March 1st a "Proposed deletion" was set for this page. I the page creator created this page for a number of reasons. The reason this page became the subject of deletion was because it was felt that being "mayor of small city, pop under 30,000 at the time. No reason to think notable". I reject that statement for the following reasons.
1. Of the 6 other Mayor of Stratford, Ontario he was Mayor at the time of Startfords most notable event, the Stratford Shakespeare festival .
2. It is documented he encouraged and gave approval to festival creator Tom Patterson. Which though may not seem like a "notable" achievement but it is documented on the web and in Startford, Ontario history books.
3. Due to his slight contribution people like Christopher Plummer and William Shatner were able to participate in the festival and become very successful.
I intend to get more information but for the time being I would appreciate if the page remained up. It is a historical fact and any information helping promote Strarfords contributions to the arts should remain in tact and be encouraged.
