Common Rotation
editI saw David playing in the UK. CR played a handful of songs first, then DB came on and played a full set with CR joining him for two songs. If you ask me, they supported him.
- I suppose they alternated - in Glasgow David played a short set and CR played a long one after him. I'll update the article with a half-way expression. McMarcoP (talk) 08:02, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Criticism
editWhy is there so much 'criticism' of the artist? I'm not too familiar with him, but he is neither a politician or fringe scientist, making the inclusion of this section bizzare, especially given how much space it takes up proportional to the article as a whole. Honestly reads like someone with a personal vendetta is filling David's article with unecessary negative information. I suggest removing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.223.101 (talk) 22:07, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Actually I added it and I am a huge fan (and a friend of David's as well), I just thought that some should be mentioned for the sake of completeness. Please be aware that most of it - as specified in the section - is hinted to in generically positive reviews. I will re-edit that section anyway. McMarcoP (talk) 08:54, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- OK, I removed the section and integrated the information there included in the rest of the article. McMarcoP (talk) 09:13, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Apart from making an unnecessarily desperate case for Berkeley's inclusion in Wikipedia, this tellingly named "critical appreciation" section is an obvious exercise in cherry-picking and fails to preserve NPOV. That critics have favorably compared him to better known musicians seems to me an objective statement of fact, but balancing all the thumbs-ups and thumbs-downs is a hopelessly subjective exercise and seems inappropriate for an encyclopedia entry. 69.217.194.205 (talk) 06:25, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- Well, dear anonymous user, I tried to mention ALL the opinions given about David Berkeley by the various critics that I could find and source, and the positive reviews are many more than the negative ones. Every artist will fatally attract some negative comments, I guess it is one of the main risks of the profession, and for objectivity's sake I did report those I could find. The "Cleveland" reference might be little more than a curiosity, but I consider the observation about his ironic attitude between songs during his live shows quite relevant. Personally, I like his style - but the quoted article criticises it and I'd insist in keeping such observation in there. I like David Berkeley, but refusing to mention that some people might not appreciate this or that aspect of his style would be, in my opinion, exactly what you mention - a failure to preserve NPOV. Assessment request
editI will leave this at C-Class for now, because per the B-Class criteria it's not there yet, especially regarding a proper lead section that summarizes the article. Any editor can feel free to relist the article once this is addressed. Hekerui (talk) 10:23, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
