Since its transfer to The Guinness Trust Housing Association, Darnhill housing estate has had a reduction in crime and drug culture, mostly associated to the demolition of the many blocks of flats plotted all over Darnhill. Due to the overspill many residents from such places like Salford, Moss side and Longsight made the crime rates similar to crime rates in the city of Manchester but improved during 2001 - 2006 due to many criminals being sent to prison. But with many criminals being released the crime rate his rose a little in the past year.
