Name of airport changed edit

Recently the government of Bihar decided to officially rename the Darbhanga airport to Vidyapati Airport after the famous poet from that region. What does everyone here think? Should we change the name of the airport? Please give input on what we should do.Yellow alligator (talk)

Oppose Well well, here we have it folks, every time we have a new airport in the country this has to happen. First it was the "international" title saga and then the airport has been renamed to "xyz airport" (clarification: I'm not saying this to Yellow alligator, but rather the authorities and media outlets). Now, coming to the sources, the latest one (in hi) looks like an unreliable or maybe semi-reliable local media outlet ^[1] which states that the authorities are currently sending the proposal for approval. The one from The Economic Times, published on the 23rd of December 2020 ^[2]states that the Bihar CM wants to name it after the poet Vidyapati, not that the airport has been renamed. A similar source exists from The Times of India which was published in November 2019..^[3] The next one (in hi) from December 2020 states that there's a cliché controversy around what should be the name of the airport.^[4] Pinging LeoFrank, Fylindfotberserk, Sunnya343 and FlyJet777 for more opinions. So I guess we will have to wait for more accurate sources or until the airport is actually and officially renamed and then we can proceed to rename the article. Yellow alligator (talk)

Oppose: I'd rather wait till there is a change in IATA or ICAO database. Unfortunately, news sources are also not reliable when it comes to names of airports. Each of them refer airports with their own fancy name. — LeoFrank ^Talk 04:48, 25 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
