Kingston Road?

The road was named for contractor [[Asa Danforth Jr.]], who built [[Queen Street (Toronto)|Queen Street]] and [[Kingston Road (Toronto)|Kingston Road]], and started work in 1799.

That looks like an anachronism; isn't Kingston Road the 1817 road which replaced Danforth's Road? Asa Danforth Jr.'s article indicates he left Canada for good in 1802 after having problems getting paid by colonial authorities of the day, so he wouldn't have still been around to construct 2, 401 or other roads built after that era. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 02:43, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

As far as can tell from a combination of maps and the stories in various books, the Kingston Road bypassed Danforth's road through Scarborough, West Hill, and up to about Duffins Creek in Pickering. It would make more sense if worded as "portions of the Kingston Road,..." - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ ^τ _¢ 04:10, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

According to research I've done in other articles, Asa Danforth Jr. built the original Kingston Road, which diverged north from the modern Kingston Road along a route which is now Clonmore Drive, Danforth Road, Painted Post Drive and Military Trail. The newer Kingston Road was built later to bypass Danforth's original route. East of Scarborough the Kingston Road/Highway 2 is supposedly mostly Danforth's original alignment, as far as Trenton, except it's obviously not around Cobourg.
