Article Name

Isn't it better for this article to be called "Cymmer, Afan Valley"? This is because local authorities change at the whim of Government. If Wikipedia was here before 1996 then the article would have been called "Cymmer, West Glamorgan". Indeed, if Wikipedia was here before 1974 (!) the article would have been called "Cymmer, Glamorgan" but since there's another Cymmer in the Rhondda that wouldn't have worked. There is currently pressure to change county boundaries again in the near future. "Cymmer, Afan Valley" would be appropriate and wouldn't change whatever boundary changes there were. --Huwbwici (talk) 08:31, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

A fair point, but we might get (and indeed have in the past got) into all sorts of POV arguments about which 'region' or 'district' should be the appropriate disambiguator for particular places. Thanks for the naming convention reference. The convention refers to 'Principal Area' and not to local government entities. Also, if the government entities changed such that both Cymmers were in the same authority (as they were up to 1974) then a local authority based convention wouldn't work. I should have made it clear that I am not asking for the article to be renamed now, only that if the local authorities change in the future then I thought it would be best to change both Cymmers to refer to their unchanging geographical location and not to their variable local authority. But I'm not making an issue of it, especially if it's been heatedly discussed previously!--Huwbwici (talk) 17:14, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
