age? edit
Um, if he was born in 1979, why was he only 8 in 1989?
350 Million conflicts with Make-a-Wish claim of 16 million edit
the make-a-wish website says "He received more than 16 million cards," not 350 million. is there a reference for the 350 million figure?
Link to Guinness edit
I came upon this page out of curiosity because someone at my office is circulating the same type of email asking for cards for a child in Northern Ontario. I knew of the Craig Shergold story and therefore forwarded the article to her. I noticed the last external link to Guinness is not working. Perhaps someone who is watching this page could try to track down the new page. --Renrenren 00:38, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Make-A-Wish implies credit when they were not responsilbe edit
If you read Make-A-Wish's own statements carefully, you will discover that they were not involved with this child's wish at any time. That they don't mention the active wish organization that did grant the wish, while mentioning the success of it, is shameful.
Family started chain letter edit
Could someone verify this assertion? My memory is that the family's appeal was broadcast but that the chain letter was started by someone else, rather than the original mutating. Chain letters were (and are) illegal in the UK so its a serious allegation. Francis Davey (talk) 09:46, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Legacy edit
Currently this section contains "As an adult, Craig does not make any public appearances other than to express his new wish–for the mail to stop" with a citation dated from 2007.
According to his facebook page (Yes, I know it's a primary source which is why I've not updated the article itself) Shergold has been performing as a stand-up comedian since late 2016.
I've failed to find any reliable sources, but if anyone can the article could probably do with an update. Kiore (talk) 02:12, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
Death edit
- Currently we have one source - in Italian!
- "The Sun" newspaper in the UK also has a story, but because they have a terrible reputation for Just Making Stuff Up, can't be used as a WP:RS. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11741998/craig-shergold-dies-covid-19-cards/
- This as unreliable source says its a rumor https://deadorkicking.com/craig-shergold-dead-or-alive/ I'm going to remove this. Mindme (talk) 13:05, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- Restored after doing some more research. What appears to be his FB page as well as the FB page of a real theater company that employed him all announce his death. A song challenge and a fund raiser page was set up to honor his legacy. Many people created youtube videos for the song challenge and many people who appear to have worked with Craig have eulogized his passing on Facebook. This is unlikely an elaborate hoax by the Sun.
