List of brands should be there - see original article in edit history

I drafted the article with a complete list of the different brands that make up the Cox Automotive unit, but any that didn't have an article were removed by user:Nikthestunned. This seems similar to removing certain songs on an album article because they didn't have their own article, and were not as noteworthy. The unit's identity is all the divisions, not just the ones that people have done Wikipedia articles for already. We'd only have three songs showing here if that were the case Odessey and Oracle#Track listing. The divisions should be listed. That being said, I agree that it would be even better to use prose - descriptions of what each division does in sentences - but haven't had time to do it yet. But removing the division weakens the article and if I dropped dead today, forces future editors to reinvent the wheel and do more work if they don't realize the info was there at one point. Not trying to create a stir and not pointing fingers - just preaching best practices here for future editing. Thoughts?Timtempleton (talk) 23:47, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

I removed the entries as that section constitutes a list, and entries in lists should themselves either have an article or be supported by a reliable source (see WP:LISTCOMPANY for further information). I'd suggest rewriting that section into sourced prose, per the template I added; if you find you have sources for those companies without a Wikipedia entry, feel free to include them in that section. Old lawsuit added to history section

Just a quick note that the lawsuit mistakenly referenced as ongoing in the history section has nothing to do with Cox Automotive, because it was resolved in 2000, over a decade before Cox Automotive was formed.[[1]].
