Proposed merge with Intangible Cultural Heritage in Finland edit

Merge would help readers to better understand the Convention as a whole. Mattwheatley (talk) 01:22, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Support - The new content doesn't really stand on it's own. I agree with the nom.- MrX 03:20, 30 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - Intangible cultural heritage in Finland has independent notability. There is intangible cultural heritage in just about any country regardless of the progress of implementing the Convention. Furthermore, national listings (see eg. Important Intangible Cultural Properties of Korea and Intangible Cultural Property (Japan)) are separate from the UNESCO listing. Also, I don't think that including Finland in this article would "help readers to better understand the Convention as a whole"; Finland is just one of the 162 state parties. Merging Finland at this stage would put undue weight on the country. Merging Finland would mean we would have to consider if we want to discuss implementation by each and every country in this article (something which most WP articles on conventions with close to two hundred state parties don't do, for obvious reasons). Furthermore, Finland is in a very early stage of implementing the convention in comparison to states that have actually submitted items to the UNESCO list. This is not necessarily representative of the overall progress of the Convention taking effect world-wide. Finnusertop (talk | guestbook | contribs) 16:05, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
