Highway extension of 72

edit

Back in the day when I lived in Connecticut, I used to have a map. In fact, I still have said map. However, it was from 1989 (and another from 1990). It had an extension (as mentioned in the section table) that bypassed Bristol. However, as far as I know, this extension was never completed. Now, I don't know if this new boulevard concept is the realized version of this or not, but I thought it might bear mentioning somewhere in the article. I'll find said maps and try to scan them if I can. --Son (talk) 08:01, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

The expressway was indeed originally planned to Bristol and Plymouth (up to Route 8 I think). I'm not sure when it was finally cancelled. The boulevard extension is just a regular four-lane divided highway with several signalized intersections. It does use part of the right of way of the original expressway but is definitely not the same as the original plan. It would be a good addition to add whatever information you have regarding the original expressway plan. --Polaron | Talk 16:26, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
