Glaciers on Mt. Speke in the Rwenzori Mountains

Created by Micheal Kaluba (talk). Self-nominated at 17:53, 20 April 2022 (UTC).Reply

Micheal Kaluba I added a hook but it is not great - if you would like a different hook please fill in ALT1 above Chidgk1 (talk) 07:01, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

ArsenalGhanaPartey I am not reviewing but I can suggest more hooks if needed as I think this is Micheal Kaluba's first submission for DYK - was not sure if you are reviewing as you wrote below comment line - would you like to continue review? Chidgk1 (talk) 07:11, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

  •   New enough and long enough. First-time nominee, QPQ exempt. The hook is fine (I wouldn't have associated glaciers with Uganda myself). Unfortunately, there is a real need for copyediting. I have requested a copyedit at GOCE and will not approve this page until that is done. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 01:50, 29 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Sammi Brie:, copyedit complete. I have added a free-use image to the nom and main page. Maury Markowitz (talk) 11:43, 20 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the ping and added image, Maury Markowitz. Some of the tables were messy from the source and I had to fix them. I see an issue I will leave for Micheal Kaluba to fix before approval: Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 17:56, 20 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • The paragraphs ending in "All these landslides are due to unusually prolonged rains." and "are the key players instituted by the government to managing and building climate resilience." do not end in inline citations, as DYK requires. The latter's citations are just links to the agencies—we'd need a citation that talks about them in the context of climate.

@Sammi Brie: All addressed. Maury Markowitz (talk) 13:52, 21 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

  Very, very nice work. Thanks to Maury Markowitz for shepherding this one through at the end. Glad to be able to approve such a broad-concept Africa article for DYK. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 17:20, 21 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Contested deletion edit

This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because... (your reason here) --Micheal Kaluba (talk) 04:16, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

There were no article on Wikipedia talking about the climate change in my country Uganda. I have come up to write one and you want to delete because of a few errors that can be fixed? I am actually working on improving it right now so I don't think it is necessary to delete it Micheal Kaluba (talk) 04:16, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Micheal Kaluba: try drafts. 晚安 (トークページ) 07:54, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I have been removing paragraphs copied from other websites, and it appears that the whole lot is copied. Perhaps one word is changed or dropped, but it appears to be a copy of several sites. If you can totally rewite everything then deletion can be averted. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:10, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Greenhouse gas emissions section has been rewritten. Graeme Bartlett I also removed some copyvio detected by https://copyvios.toolforge.org/ and it now shows "violation unlikely" - but perhaps you know a better tool? Chidgk1 (talk) 06:19, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
It is still showing this sentence is copied " A study conducted by Ministry of Water and Environment with support from the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) predicts a reduction in rainfall that could reduce Uganda hydropower potential by about 26% by 2050." Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:01, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
removed - thanks Chidgk1 (talk) 18:47, 26 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Good, there appears to be no more substantially copied text left. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:20, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
