The Cleveland State University Poetry Center is an independent small press under the auspices of the Cleveland State University. Just as the New York Times would not fall under its parent media company, neither should the Cleveland State Poetry Center fall under the Cleveland State University page. It justifiably requires its own page.

Independent or not, this article does not meet general notability guidelines. It would be best if you commented in the AFD (link is on the article page) rather than here to ensure your thoughts are considered by the admin making the final decision on whether this gets deleted or not.--RadioFan (talk) 03:23, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

With the center itself having relatively little coverage in this article, it seems that this article can be adequately covered in a section in the parent article on the university. Any objections to merging?--RadioFan (talk) 17:58, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

In response to RadioFan: I strenuously object to the idea of a merger, as the article is a much-needed stub about a major independent literary publishing house (your protestations to the contrary fail to alter this reality) which will doubtlessly be expanded over time with more historical and other topical content. As was mentioned after you nominated this article for deletion, other university-housed presses with a similar amount of content such as New Issues Press at Western Michigan University and the University of Akron Press at the University of Akron have their own pages. The press is notable enough to merit its own article, and the main article about a university is hardly the place to include in-depth coverage of a publishing house, such as its origins and founding, a list of authors it has published, and a list of honors those books received. For this same reason, athletic teams of universities often have their own pages. The article can certainly be improved, but numerous presses have pages independent of the universities that host them.--ideasoforder (talk) 1:49, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
