Universally known as Charles E Nicholson
editSailing literature, books etc always refers to Charles E Nicholson when referencing or discussing his numerous designs. Hence I have reinstated the reference to this in the main article. If there is disagreement with this I would respectfully ask that the statement remains in place until there is a clear evidence that it is not true. Thanks. Boatman (talk)
- I don't think standard naming practices need to be in the lede. If he had a nickname, or was known by his middle name, or changed his family name, then lede material, but this is just standard naming: first, middle initial, last name. And his obituary doesn't use it, so how "universal" can it be? --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 19:26, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- One of the authoritative books on Nicholson is "Charles E Nicholson and his Yachts" written by Franco Pace (renowned yachting photographer) and William Collier (holds a PhD in the history of yacht design which focussed particularly on Camper and Nicholsons yard). I had a quick look through the book and he is continuously referred to as Charles E Nicholson. Google "charles e nicholson" "yacht designer" which delivers c10500 results. Google "charles ernest nicholson" "yacht designer" which delivers 406 results. If you still take issue with 'universal' please feel free to change to 'often' or 'usually' or 'also known as' etc etc Thanks Boatman (talk)
