Chansonnier was certainly a thing in Quebec, I'm not denying that, but it wasn't a uniquely Québécois concept — it was a tradition common to virtually all francophone countries, including France and Belgium. Jacques Brel, for example, was a chansonnier, as were many, many French musicians. This needs to have some more content added about the overall tradition, rather than positing its topic as a uniquely Québécois thing. Bearcat (talk) 20:14, 21 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

"Quebecer" is not what people from my province are called. Admittedly it's a difficult subject, given that the favoured demonym (Québécois, even in English) is generally understood to apply only to the francophone population. In that sense, we sometimes see "Quebecer" used to designate us anglophones, even in formal settings. But it's an ugly, inarticulate term with a comic ring, and I reject it as a description of myself.

In any case, the whole debate is irrelevant here as the subject of this article is a francophone musical genre.

The term used in the text should be Québécois. I suspect English-speakers will survive. Laodah 21:57, 23 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
