Merge edit

I think this page and the page on the Cassinoide might be merged. Comments? Gene Ward Smith 05:03, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Support. Because there have been no objections, I will merge them after supper. SeahenNeonMerlin 21:35, 3 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Done. (Note that the c of the other article is the b of this article.) SeahenNeonMerlin 02:18, 4 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

1 < b2 < 2? edit

I'd really like to see some ovals added to the diagram for which 1 < b2 < 2. My suspicion, looking at the curves for 1 and 2, is that these would be peanut-shaped and that the curve is convex iff b2 ≥ 2. SeahenNeonMerlin 21:33, 3 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I was wondering that myself. By playing around a bit with Wolfram Alpha, I seem to have established that b2 = 2a2 is indeed the critical case. But I'm yet to find a source to back the claim and thereby put it in as anything but OR. -- Smjg (talk) 02:13, 1 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

relation to torus? edit

is the intersection curve of a torus and a plane a cassini oval? would suggest at least a link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toric_section —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.214.3.55 (talk) 12:15, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

quartic edit

It might be worth mentioning in the lede that these are quartics. Tkuvho (talk) 17:42, 29 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
