Review comment
editThe lead says the Germans built their machine gun nests after the artillery barrage, while the narrative says the Germans built them before the artillery barrage. Gen. Harper is listed in the infobox, but not the article. The lead says the ridge was defended by a German division but the infobox says there were 500 defenders, much too few for a division. The map is nice. Please note that there are Alfred Joseph Knight and Post Office Rifles articles. At this time, there is too little coverage of the subject to justify B class, in my opinion. - Revised comment above. Djmaschek (talk) 02:25, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- There is another issue. It is not necessary to cite infobox data if it is cited in the body of the article (for example, your T19 Howitzer Motor Carriage article). However, in this article the infobox includes ~700 British casualties and ~3000 and a mortar battery engaged but this is not cited anywhere in the article. The infobox also states 1 division of Germans was killed, captured or missing, which is not cited. B1=no. Djmaschek (talk) 01:22, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- I had a quick look around and agree that to reach B class, the article has to be about more than Knight and his medal. It might be possible to glean enough information to write a narrative of the 58th Division attack (not 51st Div) since Wurst Farm was on the low end of Gravenstafel Ridge, where earlier attacks had been defeated; a different plan, tank support and v. good artillery. There's a bit in the OH pp 268-269.Keith-264 (talk) 15:13, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

editAdded campaignboxes, redid the quote box to compensate and did a few wikilinks to Menin Road and vice versa.

- Maybe not, was Knight in the 58th Division? Keith-264 (talk) 14:52, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

Assessment
edit- Keith-264: The article is now B-class quality, but assessed at C-class which I am about to explain. British and German casualties in the infobox are not found anywhere in the narrative, nor are they cited (if I missed something, please help). I dinged the original author for the same oversight and it would not be fair if I let you get away with it. Thanks. Djmaschek (talk) 03:02, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
- Keith-264: Begging your pardon, I now see the 301 German prisoners, but all I see are the 499 British losses on 26 September. Djmaschek (talk) 03:28, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks Djmaschek, I didn't ask for another review, just an opinion but thanks for the C. I've asked around for anyone with that source on the 58th Division but no joy and Der Weltkrieg passes over 20 September in a couple of paragraphs (!). If we find more details, I'll let you know. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 08:51, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
- I've added a casualties section and hid some passages lacking citations or page numbers temporarily.Keith-264 (talk) 10:33, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
