tellurium

Availability of Materials

Here we should discuss where the main sources of CdTe are located. Do we mine this stuff? Is it readily available somehow? What is the cost of the material? What is our current consumption and our current supply? Production data

This page lacks production data. How do they make it... react cadmium and tellurium... fuse them as an alloy... reduce a tellurite in the presence of cadmium... how?--Chemicalinterest (talk) 14:53, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Wrong density

The density value of 6.2 g/cm³ as given in the current version is wrong. I will change it to the correct value of 5.85, also giving a reference. The correct value can be derived from the lattice constant of 6.48 A, too. --Dr. Thomas König (talk) 13:06, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Incorrect band gap

I noticed the band gap is listed as 1.44 eV and cited with a 1955 Phys. Rev. article, but there are better more recent data on the band gap. It is commonly cited to be 1.5 eV at room temp. I will update the chembox and the text to reflect this change. Flutiki (talk) 20:14, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Uncited claims should be removed until proper references can be found and proper citation provided, especially in regards to toxicity.

A paragraph concerning the toxicity of CdTe included claims that were uncited and irrelevant to the subject matter. The references used were over twenty years old and one of the links provided was dead. The uncited claims were concerned with the environmental friendliness of Cadmium Telluride and not the toxicity of the material. Environmental friendliness and toxicity are not equivocal. Furthermore, stating the toxicity level has recently been reduced without providing a relative comparison could lead to harmful misunderstandings. Williamthebrand (talk) 00:22, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
