Iowa Interstate? edit

Two Chinese-built locomotives purchased by Iowa Interstate Railroad work an excursion train in Illinois with Milwaukee Road 261 on September 16, 2006.

Who built the QJs (shown) that Iowa Interstate bought this year? Slambo (Speak) 13:15, 17 October 2006 (UTC) Datong according to [1].--QuantumEngineer 11:11, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dubious information edit

Removed as it is unsourced and probably untrue:

"It is the only place in the world where new steam locomotives are produced."

If locomotives intended for leisure railways count then there are at least two other manufacturers: Alan Keef (UK) and 16 Februarie (Romania).

If it refers to steam locomotives built for serious transport use, a Chinese manufacturer (I have no idea which one) very probably was the last, but such use in China ended a few years ago.

As far as I could tell from an Altavista Babelfish translation, the Chinese version doesn't have this statement and doesn't mention QJs, and does have more information. I have added the product list from there, but the history was too garbled by the translation to be sure of. —Preceding unsigned comment added by QuantumEngineer (talkcontribs) 21:53, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, it sounds right (with regards to line-haul railroad companies), but outdated. Since the last QJ ran in China in 2004, haven't they ceased new steam locomotive production? Whatever the answer, this statement will need to be referenced before we add it back to the article. Slambo (Speak) 13:08, 13 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Meiningen Steam Locomotive Works in Germany are building a narrow gauge locomotive for a railway in Mecklenburg, which this year. This one will be used in regular service (it's nor the first steam locomtive build there in modern times, but the others were mostly for tourist (as in people that want to see the steam engine) use).

CNR now part of CRRC edit

I suggest the author to update the article as CNR is now probably CRRC; they also produce metros cf. [1] 217.165.113.52 (talk) 06:20, 16 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
