Valuable Scholarship for any teacher or writer to have
editFascinating article but also invaluable to almost any teacher or scholar studying society, literature, the whole works, between 1840 and 1960. That long era was the Railroad Age and the Naval Age. Reminds me of Howard Isham's book on how ships worked in the age of sail. Who knew that the Conductor was the figure comparable to the ship's captain? I had assumed it was the engineer. Well, written and supported. Bravo. I went to look up who had written this excellent piece and discovered half a hundred visions and revisions over the last fifteen years. A true scholarly collaboration. Gives one hope for Wikipedia as it continues to evolve. Profhum (talk) 23:28, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
