I live at Bongaree and have extended the text, especially with regards to the often secretive forestry operations in the centre of the island, maybe someone has further information on this point.

Sinking Feeling
edit- This article does not go into much detail of the problems the northern side of the island is facing with erosion. I think there is one sentence on it. I watched the news not too long ago and they stated the northern part of the island was in danger of becoming several islands due to a loss of sand dunes. This in turn would endanger the low lying southern section of the island, by exposing the communites of the south to the ocean.

- In reality the Southern end of the Island is protected by plenty of sand bars out in Moreton Bay, the reason that Woorim does not get Pacific Ocean swells is that these sand bars dissipate the waves about 10kms to 15kms offshore. If you have a look at shipping charts for the area they are all reasonably well marked. At the North of the Island where the shipping channel turns North East into open ocean is another matter. This area does get the full force of the swells and does suffer from erosion at times. I should point out that I've seen in the past 10 years the beach at the Northern tip go from being about 150 metres wide to less than 10 metres, it is now returning to a wider pattern as more sand is deposited with smaller tides and Easterly winds. Wikifying
editHi I am working on a project with the Bribie Island Seaside Museum on the history of Bribie Island. As I gather more quality references and resources I am updating this page. If it improves to a suitable standard I will remove the citations needed tag. Robertwhyteus (talk) 21:50, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
- Great. I will help out with referencing other aspects. The article is finally coming along. - Shiftchange (talk) 22:00, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Disputed
editAn anonymous editor has disputed that the twin cinema opened in 2001, having lived in the area and recalling attending the cinema prior to that time. I removed their comments from the article itself and added a disputed tag. Kerry (talk) 22:19, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
- I just spoke to one of the owners, Jackie, who said they were opened in 1997. - Shiftchange (talk) 00:34, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- I'll change the text to read "in 1997" then. BoundaryRider (talk) 08:11, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Origin of the name?
editDoes anyone know the origin of the name, and if so can that be added to the article? Is it a corruption of the aboriginal name? When did European settlers start using this name? Etc. Jpp42 (talk) 22:36, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
- Done. It's a convict's name. Kerry (talk) 02:41, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
