John Milton wrote this poem about this area in 1655 there had been a slaughter of Protestant Bible believers called the Waldenesse by the local Catholic forces. Italian landscapes will never be the same for me, all stained with marytrs blood!

On the Late Massacre in Piedmont

ps : the Triple Tyrant is the Pope.
