Talk:Blanche Hunt

It has been seriously considered and discussed at our latest forward planning meeting edit

This idiotic statement embodies the brainlessness of the current production team, which is the reason why the quality of Corrie has gone so dreadfully downhill, with the storylines in particular utterly pathetic. To any production team members reading this: have you ever heard of a backward planning meeting? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.68.94.86 (talk) 09:04, 12 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dates Do Not Make Sense edit

a romance with Arnold is dated 2010

last appearance 11 December 2009

but she was already dead with her date of death indicated as 2 December 2009

was there a seance?

perhaps her heart had stopped but she was just not quite ready to leave just yet?

or perhaps the dates of the character's death are being confused with the death of the actress Ms. Jones.

Corrected - it was a recent case of vandalism which has gone unnoticed. Try and look at the page history in future to see if you can help, thanks for the heads-up! Ooh, Fruity Ooh, Chatty 00:31, 15 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think someone has probably taken the actress's date of death as the character's. Blanche was still alive, off-screen, in 2010 so it's accurate to say she had a romance then. Smurfmeister (talk) 17:06, 19 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

First Apperance edit

If anyone can find her first apperance that would be good, but I trust the ITV website which saids Blanch first appearend in March. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.7.33.247 (talk) 23:19, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have access to the ITV sales site - http://www.itnsource.com - and have been through every episode listed on there. I also visited the British newspaper library in Colindale and looked through every edition of TV Times from 1960 to 1987 (so far) and that is where my info comes from. The ITV site is wrong (not for the first time).--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 23:29, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Blance Corrie.jpg edit

Image:Blance Corrie.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Marraige edit

Is this right? It says Blanche was born in 1936 but she married Donald in 1950. Surely that makes her 14 at the time of marraige? Cutekitten05 (talk) 11:39, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge edit

Due to the size of the article, I feel it should be merged with the reccuring and minor Corrie characters. This is Drew (talk) 11:50, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The character is permanent and is neither reccuring or minor so merging this article into that column would be misleading. --Bravo Plantation (talk) 23:59, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I can see both your points but if merged we would lose the image. 86.143.121.28 17:03, 3 November 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.143.121.28 (talk) Reply

Opening sentence edit

The opening sentence currently reads

"Blanche Hunt (née Linfield) was a popular and long-standing fictional character in the UK television ITV soap opera, Coronation Street. She was portrayed by the late Maggie Jones. The character made a first onscreen appearance during the episode airing on 19 August 1974 after previously being portrayed by the late actress Patricia Cutts for a two episode stint."

But this doesn't seem clear to me. Did Curtis play the role from 19 August 1974 for two episodes, or had she appeared as Blanche in two episodes prior to that date? TheRetroGuy (talk) 19:36, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ok it should always say "Blanche Hunt (née Linfield) is a popular and long-standing fictional character in the UK television ITV soap opera, Coronation Street.Because even if a character dies or just leaves for other reasons they will never stop being a fictional character!!Ok and a few more things 1.why has the image been removed form her article it should be put back up straight away please, also,Just make sure that someone adds her to the list of past characters once she has made her last appearance onscreen thank you brian moore (talk) 22:20, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Years active edit

I can't change the character's duration year again yet as I'll violate 3RR. But i'll say this - the character duration should be through to 2010 as I have been editing thus far, as the soap will have filmed up to this week, which will be broadcast into 2010. When we see initial 2010 broadcasts, at that point in time the actress would still have been alive and therefore obviously the character's duration wont be until 2009, it'll be 2010, the year the character will be written out of the soap. She had planned to return so we will not see the character being written out before 2010 - it'll be sometime next year. Please all stop reverting my edits. Bungle (talkcontribs) 22:21, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes i agree totally with you there, she may be still in some more episodes yet to air we will just have to wait and see.she should also be kept in the list of current characters until she is killed off onscreen brian moore (talk) 22:28, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
[1] This source seems to indicate that the character was written out of the soap in October and had not yet returned, suggesting that there are no pre-recorded scenes featuring her to be broadcast in 2010. Do you have any sources which disagree? I haven't see Coronation Street in months so I'm not well versed current events. If you have any references to the contrary, I'm in the middle of a bit of a re-write & happy to include them so you don't violate 3RR. Frickative 22:32, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps you are right so maybe we can have her duration ending at 2009 for the moment and if we do see her in the new year we can just easily change it 2010 but please keep her in the current characters list thank you brian moore (talk) 22:35, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is very simple - the character will be killed off next year. The character duration will be through to 2010. I doubt she will feature on-screen again, but that is neither here nor there. Character duration is just that - duration the CHARACTER is active/alive or otherwise still on-roll, if you like. Whether the character is seen on screen again or not doesn't matter in this instance, as the duration will end 2010 when the character will, I assume, pass away off screen, which will be in 2010. Bungle (talkcontribs) 22:36, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
However, can the character still be classed as "on-roll" given that she was written out in October? If we based duration on the length of time the characters were 'alive', then every past character who was written out and didn't die would technically have no end date. Whether or not she's killed off in 2010, her final appearance will surely remain November 2009? Frickative 22:45, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yeah exactly. The "duration" means of the character's appearance on screen - her last appearance was 20 November 2009 - she will not appear on screen in 2010. When the character dies is immaterial to her "duration". She is now a former character. P.S. There are seperate fields for character's birth & death, that's not what duration is for.--90.202.153.37 (talk) 01:07, 3 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yup when i think about it Frickative has a point so i am going to go with that her last appearanace shoulde be 20 november 2009 brian moore (talk) 22:49, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Could i just ask aswell for a reason ehy the image was removed from Blanche's article. brian moore (talk) 22:54, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't know why it was removed, but I've restored it just now :) Frickative 23:53, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Image of Patricia Cutts edit

This image does not appear to be the actress in the role of Blanche, as in this still [ http://media.photobucket.com/image/Patricia%20Cutts/Joenoir/British%20Film%20Actors/patricia_cutts_as_blanche74.jpg] she looks considerably older. I'm removing the image as it is not fair use in this page.GunGagdinMoan 19:54, 12 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
