  2. It should make use of sections, using Wikipedia:WikiProject UK geography/How to write about settlements as a guide.
  3. Infobox to be added (use Template:Infobox UK place.)
  4. Photos need to be added.
  5. References and Citations are crucial for wikipedia, and so these must be added as the article is expanded. Make sure that as many as possible are "in-line" citations.(See WP:References, WP:V, and WP:CITE for guidance.)

Nominator has not addressed the issues raised and hasn't edited on Wikipedia at all since April 4; closing as unsuccessful

  • ... that the rural parish of Blakenhall once housed one of Cheshire's earliest documented ironworks?
    • ALT1:... that the rural parish of Blakenhall, Cheshire, had an iron foundry during the English Civil War? Sources: "On the fringe of Blakenhall lies Doddington Old Mill ... The same site was used as a furnace by Sir Thomas Delves, where the hammers and anvils were cast, and in 1667 the forge's output of pig iron was 500 tons." (The Cheshire Village Book p.34). & "How far there were furnaces, bloomeries and forges for iron-making in Cheshire is difficult to estimate. ... In 1619 a hammerman was mentioned in a register as belonging to Tib Green on Checkley Brook which is just inside the Cheshire southern border, and by 1646 there was certainly a refining forge or finery leased to Walter Chetwind of Rugeley. There may have been a forge refining pig iron at Madeley (near Crewe) or Heighley [neither is in Cheshire] ... During the Civil Wars, ironworks listed in Royalist Composition papers include Doddington, Lea, Church Lawton and Vale Royal." (Beck, p. 57). There is more detail pp. 73–81 of [1]

  • Comment: Prefer the main hook; the alt is in case the sourcing is not deemed clear enough to support "one of ... earliest documented" wording.

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited:   - n
  • Interesting:
  • Other problems:   - First hook preferred, but needs a verifiable source. Striking Alt1.
QPQ: Done.

Overall:   Nice work --evrik (talk) 19:27, 9 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

This is just a drive-by comment, but I was wondering if the original hook could be revised in some way since they mainly mention places that may not be familiar to international readers. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 10:22, 23 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
