Dietr Duhm edit

I deleted the following text from the article.

Nowadays, its original meaning as an ecological space itself is less emphasised and the term is more widely known as a touchstone word in the preservation of the environment. Some people delineate and advocate "Healing Biotopes" as “self-sufficient future communities. Dieter Duhm’s book "The Sacred Matrix" (2006) describes biotopes as: “greenhouses of trust” and “acupuncture points of peace”. [1]
This author has worked with people to construct a biotope prototype in Portugal. Duhm and others offer theories and practices for developing peace villages and global healing. [2]

Why is Duhm's use of the word notable? I think this might be spam.--200.104.46.111 (talk) 00:40, 29 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Biotope as non biological community edit

Within some professions e.g. urbanism, the word biotope is used to describe a network of people, cities, actions and/or ideas that are interdependent. This is not a traditional use of the word, but could be mentioned in the article, as it is commonly used within some areas not related to plants and animals.

I hope someone with more lexicon and linguistic skills than me, would be so brave and kind as to add a few sentences on the subject. I have added a random link to give an example of an alternative use of the word.

IUCN Redirects need to be discussed edit

Both Habitat management area and Species management area redirect here. They are both concepts of IUCN protected area categories#Category IV – Habitat/Species Management Area, and should be mentioned in the article. Dpleibovitz (talk) 16:48, 10 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Reference to this as a microscopic and not macroscopic approach edit

I don’t understand this point - surely a microscopic approach reduces the scale to that of the micro-organism and those perceived via microscope - I don’t think that is what you mean? You could infer that a biotope can be relevant at different and sometimes nested scales? 77.101.215.16 (talk) 09:48, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
