Military glider base?

edit

Ihave removed this paragraph as it is not referenced, poorly written and possibly untrue. Can someone provide proof and if so re-instate the paragraph, in a better form please.

During World War II, the base was also used as a glider base. During some raids in Germany, gliders were towed from Bicester to Germany, full of troops and equipment. The gliders would land quietly in the German fields, and the troops were deployed. The glider raids were very successful, and are now considered great tactical feats of aviation.

I have checked my edition of Action Stations 6 and there is no mention of any wartime gliding. [ABCT] doesn't mention any gliding either. Apart from the word Bicester in the second sentence it's quite general and could be about any major airbourne operation in Europe. Gavbadger (talk) 23:17, 19 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
