Constabulary vs Police

The assertion that Bedfordshire Police was "formerly Bedfordshire Constabulary" is not strictly true, as it was formed as a result of a long process of amalgamations, including those of the town police forces of Luton and Bedford. I've dropped it out- pending someone being bothered enough to elucidate the long histoey of mergers and amalgamations! Stevingtonian (talk) 07:54, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
